Exhibition: “Stages in the History of Art”

An exhibition, “Stages in the History of our Art”, was held from 22-28 November 2011, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The exhibition was opened at 18:00 on 22 November 2011 in the Art Gallery of the Museum Centre.
A large attendance was introduced to works created between 1940 and 1980 by outstanding representatives of the Azerbaijan school of art including: Mikayil Abdullayev, Boyukaga Mirzazade, Tahir Salahov, Togrul Narimanbeyov, Nadir Abdurrahmanov, Khalida Safarova and other well-known artists.
The main purpose in organising the exhibition was to introduce younger generations to rare examples of our art produced between 1940 and 1980. Displaying the works within their periods presented particular features of the historical period our nation has passed through, which in turn produced made a specific impression on the history of our art.
We should recall that an exhibition of the same name was organised by the Ministry in 2010; works produced between the start of the 20th century and 1940 were selected for that exhibition from the Azerbaijan National Art Museum collection.
This time the works displayed were selected from the collections of the Azerbaijan National Art Museum and the Azerbaijan State Art Gallery.
