Memory Evening dedicated to the People’s Artist Mammadrza Sheykhzamanli’s 95th anniversary

On Septembers 23, 2009, a memory party dedicated to the 95th year of the Azerbaijan Folk artist, Laureate of the State Republic Prize, notable actor of theater and cinema Mamedrza Sheykhzamanov, was held in the Assembly Hall of the Museum Center.

The actor was born in 1915 in Ganja. During the years of repressions, Mamedrza Sheykhzamanov together with his family was deported to Kazakhstan. After the long years of reference, he went back to Ganja and worked there in a theatre for some time. In 1954 he accepted the invitation of producer Adil Iskenderov, arrived to Baku and till the end of his life worked in the State Academic Drama Theatre. Playing on the theatrical stage in different theatricals, he was often taken off in the cinema, spoke on radio and television. In the cinema, first he played in the film “Bakhtiyar” in a role of professor Radjabov. After this Mamedrza Sheykhzamanov played in films “Under the Sultry Sky” (Amir), in a movie fairy-tale “Mystery of One Fortress” (Eldost), in the melodrama “Is It Possible to Forgive Him?” (Colonel Kurbanov), “Leyli and Mejnun” (man-dervish), “The Great Support” (secretary of district committee Sharifogly) etc. His interesting roles are in films “Where Is Akhmed?” (Shirin), “The Elevator Operator” (artist), Sheykhzaman in “Nasimi”, “The Sound of Pan-Pipe” (Isfendiyar), “The Gold Precipice” (Gurban). The folk artist M. Sheykhzamanov died in 1984 aged 69.
