Presentation of the website of Azerbaijan State Museum of Theatre, named after J. Jabbarli

On the 2nd of March at 12:00 at the Assembly hall of Museum Center was held presentation of the website of Azerbaijan State Museum of Theatre, named after J. Jabbarli. The site has been prepared using materials held in the museum’s collection by the editorial board of the “Musiqi dunyasi” magazine. The use of 3D technology in the preparation of the web site, for the first in our republic, is an important advance in this field. Abulfaz Qarayev, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, said in his speech at the ceremony that the first preparation of a 3D web site in Azerbaijan was significant progress in the museum world. The minister said that the site was a fine method of promoting Azerbaijani theatre to the world. Museum Director Nurida Nurullayeva also appreciated the preparation of this site as a great development for theatre. The site was presented by Professor Tariyel Mammadov, editor-in-chief of “Musiqi Dunyasi”. An electronic version of part of the museum’s exposition and collection has been placed on the website. A virtual tour of the halls has been organized in three languages. The site also contains materials about the work of the republic’s state theatres and from the personal archives of USSR People’s Artists Sidqi Ruhulla, Adil Iskenderov, Hokume Qurbanova and Ismayil Osmanli; People’s Artists Heqiqet Rzayeva, Ismayil Hidayetzade and Shemsi Badalbeyli; People’s Painters Azim Azimzade, Bedure Afqanli, Kamil Khanlarov, Ismayil Akhundov, Kazim Kazimzade and others. Glass negatives from the late 19th and early 20th century, showing scenes from different performances have been restored and presented on the site. Rare video materials held in the museum’s recordings archive are also to be found on the website. In this section it is possible to hear voice recordings of masters of the arts, to hear reminiscences about them and to view some of their performances. Books, scientific articles and reviews held in the museum’s library collection have been prepared and introduced to the site; literary, music, painting and theatre criticism, as well as literature are included in this section. In the future, the site will be replenished with new material.
