Film Evening on the Occasion of the 85th Anniversary of Azerbaijani Cinema and Television Director, Kamil Rustambeyov

A film evening was held 3 February 2010, on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of outstanding Azerbaijani cinema and television director, Kamil Rustambeyov, in the Assembly Hall of the Museum Center.
Kamil Aslanoglu Rustambeyov was an art worker with a distinct niche in history of our national cinema and television. He graduated from the Azerbaijan State Theatre Institute in 1953. In 1956, when Baku’s television industry began, Rustambeyov worked as an official editor. He was one of the founders of Azerbaijani television. Then Kamil muellim worked as senior director, head director and produced a number of interesting programmes.
For the first time in the history of national television history, a widescreen feature film was made of Samed Vurgun’s poem ‘Aygun’. This television film-poem was produced by Kamil Rustambeyov. Following this, he produced the feature film “The Chained Man”, several documentaries and filmed concerts.
In 1966, Kamil Rustambeyov was invited to work in the Jafar Jabbarly ‘Azerbaijan Film’ Studio. Here he produced feature films such as “Battle in the Mountains”, “The Last Barrier”, “The Dervish Blows Up Paris” (together with Sh. Mahmudbeyov), “Wait For Me” and the concert film “On the Wings of Song”. All these films were shown on screens across the Union. “The Last Barrier” was shown at the 5th All-Union Cinema Festival, held in Tbilisi in 1972 and actors A. Iskenderov (Karbalayi Ismail) and H. Mammadov (Abbasgulu bey) received awards for Best Male roles.
Film director Kamil Rustambeyov died in 1991.
