On 26 April this year a solo exhibition by Abbas Kazimov, famous artist and honoured member of the Russian Art Academy, opened in the art gallery of the Museum Centre with organisational support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Artists’ Union. Dozens of the artist’s paintings and graphics were displayed in the exhibition called ‘Bright World’.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Qarayev and head of the Azerbaijani Artists’ Union, People’s Artist Farhad Khalilov, spoke at the event about the artist’s career.
Minister Abulfas Qarayev stated that the historical ties of friendship between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Russia are prominently apparent in Abbas Kazimov’s work. “As a successor of the Absheron school of art he created memorable works by combining aspects of applied arts and painting; he is known, at the same time, as the founder of the ‘carpet style’, which is unique in painting. This style combines characteristics of the Eastern and Classical schools of art.” Later they toured the exhibition. The artist’s works ‘Songbird’, ‘The Artist’s Family’, ‘Refugees’ and ‘ Child and Refugee Woman’, among others, were viewed with great interest.
We should note that the works of Abbas Kazimov have been displayed in a number of countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, the USA and China.
